Dr Khalid Garba Mohammed

Dr Khalid is an Assistant Professor in Pharmaceutics at Newcastle University School of Pharmacy and holds an Honorary Senior Lectureship in Pharmaceutics at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Nigeria. A licensed pharmacist in Nigeria, he holds a PhD in Applied Pharmaceutics from Università degli Studi di Milano, Italy. He brings over a decade of cross-sector expertise spanning international development, the pharmaceutical industry, academia, and hospital and community pharmacy practice.

Prior to his current roles, he served as a lecturer at Kingston University, London, and as a Senior Formulation Scientist at FABRX Ltd., a London-based biopharmaceutical company specialised in pharmaceutical 3D printing for personalised medicine. Concurrently, he worked as a Visiting Scientist at University College London (UCL) School of Pharmacy and delivered research projects for Pfizer Inc., USA and Takeda Pharmaceuticals. Khalid also completed a UKRI-funded Postdoctoral Research Fellowship at Queen’s University Belfast.

His academic footprint includes lectureships at Bayero University Kano, guest lectureships at the University of Charleston (USA), and a teaching assistantship at the University of Milan, Italy. In the public health and logistics arena, he has served as a resource person for PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) Nigeria and the Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI) Nigeria.

Professionally, he has held voluntary positions within the International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP), including membership on the FIP COVID-19 Global Expert Advisory Group, and served as Liaison for the FIP-UNESCO UNITWIN network for the FIP Early Career Pharmaceutical Group (ECPG).
